The London Marathon race starts in Greenwich Park and ends on The Mall, opposite Buckingham Palace. The 26.2 mile (about 42 km) route is mostly flat, with runners passing some iconic landmarks such as:

This time the prize money is also quite big:
- Winners will get £41,000
- If someone breaks the world record, then they will get an extra bonus of £112,000
And yes, if you break the course record or world record (Men: 2:00:35 / Women: 2:09:56), then the organizers have kept more incentives.

Last year, 55,646 runners completed the race at the New York Marathon. This time the target of London Marathon organizers is to break the record of 56,000+ runners.
