Police identified the shooter
Tallahassee, Florida 17 April 2025
A horrific shooting took place on Thursday night at the Florida State University FSU Campus, in which two people died and 6 people were injured. Police identified the shooter as a 20-year-old student Phoenix Ikner, who was also an FSU student.
The most surprising thing is that he used the service weapon of his mom Jessica Ikner, who is Leon’s deputy in the country Sharif officer, for this act.
Time of firing incident and police action
The shooting started around 11:30 in the afternoon. Police reacted immediately and neutralized the shooter and sent him to hospital. Officially, he told that there is no other threat and the suspect carried out the whole incident alone.
Leon country Sharif said in the conference: Jessica Ikner has done a lot of good work for the community in her career and has also supported the community but it is sad that her son reached her ass and used it.
Shooter and his man’s background
Phoenix Ikner was a normal student. But his past and motive is not clear yet. His wife Jessica has been in loan enforcement for 18 years and is an experienced officer.
Both of the two students killed were not FSU students. The authority has confirmed that the two people killed were not students. Their names have not yet been revealed.
FSU’s response and lockdown
The university has suspended all classes until Friday. All athletic events in Tallahassee have also been suspended until next weekend. University President Richard McCullough has called the incident a tragic and senseless act of violence.
Statement: “Today we are all having fun together but we are still a family and we will be together in this difficult time.”
Student experiences
A student turned veterinarian was leaving the camp after a Joy Therapy session when he heard a gunshot and saw people running here and there. He was terrified. Another student Cole Summers said that he was in the student union when everything happened and at that time, under an emergency, all the people were taken to a safe place.
FBI and ATF are also involved in the investigation
The FBI has sent agents from its Tallahassee and Jacksonville offices and an ATM is also present on site. FBI has asked the public for any information and asked them to help as much as possible.
